About  the  project

My wife Andrea and I and our two daughters were blessed to have Quentin, Sarah and their daughter Lily move in across the street. Our two families forged a relationship which has enriched our lives, sharing good times as our children grew and played together. Quentin and I had a special friendship and would spend evenings over a cocktail joking around or discussing life and family. I was grateful for a lifelong friendship similar to the one my own father had with our neighbor.

Quentin's journey with glioblastoma, an incurable and aggressive brain cancer, started in August of 2019 - just 3 weeks after the birth of his second daughter Sophia. Quentin's illness progressed rapidly, losing his mobility and his verbal capacity - a great loss, as he was a very funny guy. Occasionally I would be called to his house to help him up after a fall. This was heartbreaking, but during the pandemic it gave me the opportunity to see Q. It was a chance to crack a joke, let him know that he's loved, and provide some form of meaningful support to him and his family.

Quentin died on December 27th, 2020, with Sarah at his side. I can't imagine the vacuum left by his passing or the grief and sorrow experienced by his family. Sarah, Lily and Sophia remain an important part of our lives.

The power and importance of these relationships has inspired me and this fundraising challenge. Whether it is to honour Quentin, or perhaps someone close to you, please consider donating. Every donation goes directly to providing support to bereaved families in need.
