Dec. 2021 100.3 for Q

year one

In June of 2021 I conceived of the 100.3 for Q project, with a goal of raising $10,000 in Quentin’s honour by rowing 100 km on an indoor rower. During the evolution of the project I was joined both by people close to Quentin, and people who had never met him but were moved by his story and the cause I was supporting.

100.3 for Q had grown from an individual effort to a powerful and beautiful community event. The fundraising goal of $10,000 was quickly surpassed, and a new goal of $50,000, the equivalent of sending 100 kids to Camp Kerry, was set. On December 4th 2021 we gathered for the first time to sweat, and suffer, and revel in a job well done. It was a very emotional day, with visits from Quentin’s family and friends including his parents, and his wife Sarah and their two children. Mike Read and I both completed the 100km solo row, and all teams finished. Everyone was in good spirits and it was a fun day despite the emotions in the room.

We raised over $72,000, providing 144 children and youth with the means to attend Camp Kerry, including Sarah and their children. This can be a really transformative experience, providing a compassionate and supportive community for those suffering life altering loss.

I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and I look forward to what we can do next.
